Lynn Huffman, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. His clinical expertise includes heart valve repair/replacement, heart transplants, ventricular assist devices, and ECMO. He holds a dual undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of Illinois, a Master’s in Chemistry from the same institution, and an M.D. from the University of Michigan. His surgical training includes residencies in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery at the University of Cincinnati, an additional Thoracic Surgery residency at the University of Michigan, and a fellowship in Cardiopulmonary Transplant and Mechanical Assist Devices at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
His research focuses on improving survival trends in cardiac surgery. He actively teaches medical students and residents. Professional memberships include the Society for Thoracic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States. Dr. Huffman is also a Colonel in the U.S. Army Medical Corps Reserve.
