About
Lynn Gillespie is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on the systematics and evolution of flowering plants, particularly within the grass (Poaceae) and spurge (Euphorbiaceae) families, and the Canadian Arctic flora.
- Research Interests: Biodiversity, Phylogeny, Molecular Systematics, DNA Barcodes, Arctic Flora, Vascular Plants, Herbs.
She has contributed to phylogenetic studies using nuclear ITS and plastid DNA sequences, described new genera like Dupontiopsis, Saxipoa, and Sylvipoa, and explored hybridization events in the Poaceae family. Her work includes DNA barcoding initiatives for Arctic plants and taxonomic revisions of Poa and Euphorbiaceae species.
Selected Scientific Collaborations: Collaborated with Robert Soreng (Smithsonian Institution), Roger Bull (University of Ottawa), and others on studies related to grass phylogeny, Arctic biodiversity, and plant taxonomy. Her publications span journals like Journal of Systematics and Evolution, PLoS ONE, and Australian Systematic Botany.
