Professor Lynn Abrams holds the Chair in Modern History at the University of Glasgow's Department of History, within the College of Arts. Her research focuses on gender history, oral history theory, and the social and cultural history of modern Britain and Scotland. She leads major projects like 'Feminist Lives' exploring post-war womanhood and 'Fleece to Fashion' examining knitted textiles' cultural and economic roles.
Her recent publications include Feminist Lives: Women, Feelings and the Self in Post-War Britain (2023) and Knitting in Scotland: Culture, Craft and Industry (2023). Abrams has supervised numerous PhD students, resulting in impactful monographs and academic contributions. Current grants include AHRC funding for textile history and Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry research. She actively engages in public history through initiatives like the Biographical Dictionary of Scottish Women.
