Lupe Davidson is a Woodburn Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies at the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, West Virginia University. She serves as the Associate Dean for Social Justice, Faculty Development, and Innovation. Her work bridges continental philosophy with diasporic black feminist theory, focusing on themes of agency, identity, and coalitional politics.
Dr. Davidson is renowned for her research in Black Women’s Studies, particularly her analysis of black women’s agency and critiques of Global South feminism. Her fieldwork in northern Uganda (2015–2019) involved interviewing grassroots women’s organizations and organizing peace conferences in Gulu (2018–2019), alongside participatory research and community-building initiatives.
She co-edits the interdisciplinary Borderless book series, dedicated to coalitional politics and disruptive thought. Partnerships with the Women’s Resource Center, LGBTQ+ Center, and Resilient Communities Center at WVU underscore her commitment to social justice and inclusive scholarship.
