Lung-Hua Hu

Lung-Hua Hu is a Senior Lecturer Emerita in East Asian Studies at Brown University. She holds an MA in TESOL from Columbia University’s Teacher’s College. Her career spans teaching roles at institutions including Princeton University, Duke University, and the US State Department’s CLASS in Taipei. She has authored pedagogical works such as Mandarin Grammar and co-authored textbooks like Chinese Skill Builders.

Affiliations & Leadership: President of NECLTA (2016–2018), Board Member of CLTA-US (2016–2019), and current NECLTA board member. Recognized for her Intermediate Chinese curriculum, designated as one of the top 10 Chinese courses in the U.S. by the College Board.

Teaching Focus: Specializes in Chinese language pedagogy, curriculum development, and second language acquisition strategies. Her work emphasizes practical communication skills for learners in China and global contexts.
