Luke Kane

Dr Luke Kane is a Lecturer in the School of Computer Science at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), affiliated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He holds a PhD from QUT, alongside Bachelor degrees in Information Technology and Computer Science. His research focuses on secure IoT architectures, protocols, and frameworks for critical infrastructure, emphasizing the balance between performance and security.

Research interests include IoT network performance, cybersecurity in smart grids, and wireless technologies like Wi-Fi HaLow and LoRa. Recent work explores DDoS attack detection, energy consumption modeling, and trustworthy digital agriculture systems.

His publications analyze IoT network architectures, authentication schemes, and experimental comparisons of wireless technologies for smart grids. He co-supervises PhD/MPhil students in IoT security and performance research and has contributed to projects funded by the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre.
