Lukas Lehner

Lukas Lehner is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oslo (UiO), affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities and the Department of Literature, Area Studies and European Languages (ILOS). His research focuses on German literature from 1800–1945, 19th-century philosophy and art, media aesthetics, and the works of figures like August Strindberg and Gilles Deleuze. He holds an M.A. (2020) and B.A. (2018) in Literary Studies from UiO, with a focus on art history.

Lehner’s doctoral project, Interim Lovers: Love, Perception and Media in Goethe’s Die Wahlverwandtschaften, examines the novel’s engagement with natural science, temporality, and socio-historical change around 1800. His work bridges literary analysis with philosophy, particularly Deleuze’s concepts of events and historical contingency.

He has published in journals like Norsk Litteraturvitenskapelig Tidsskrift and BLA - Bokvennen litterære avis, focusing on Strindberg, media theory, and literary criticism. Lehner has also contributed to Ny Tid as a freelance critic and served on the ILOS Department Board representing temporary staff.

His teaching includes courses on Western literature from 1700–1900 and has organized academic events through his editorial work with Filologen, a student magazine.
