Luisa Piart is a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Law & Anthropology at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology. Her work focuses on economic and legal anthropology, particularly examining the politics and laws of justice, global markets, labour governance, maritime infrastructures, and the anthropology of international organizations.
- Education: Degrees in History and Geography from Paris, Migration Studies from Poitiers, and a binational PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Vienna and EHESS Paris.
- Research Interests: Economic Anthropology, Legal Anthropology, Maritime Infrastructure, Labour Governance, Anthropology of International Organizations, Moral Anthropology, Ethnographic Theory.
- Current Projects: Research on seafarers, the ILO Maritime Labour Convention (2006), and its implementation regime, focusing on normative orders and political claims at sea.
