Luis Videgaray is a Senior Lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management and Director of the MIT AI Policy for the World Project. He previously served as Foreign Minister and Finance Minister of Mexico, leading NAFTA renegotiation and founding the Lima Group. As Finance Minister (2012-2016), he implemented Mexico's energy liberalization, telecommunications reform, and fintech legislation.
His research examines AI governance, regulation frameworks, and geopolitical dimensions of emerging technologies. Recent work analyzes government roles in AI regulation and cross-border technology policy challenges.
Holds a Ph.D. in Economics from MIT and B.A. in Economics from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
