Luis Jacob is a Toronto-based artist and curator serving as Visiting Professor at Vermont College of Fine Arts. His interdisciplinary practice examines social interaction and aesthetic subjectivity through painting, video, installation, and public interventions. Jacob studied semiotics and philosophy at the University of Toronto and has been involved in participatory education initiatives including the Anarchist Free University collective.
His research explores how meaning systems collide to destabilize viewing conventions and create engagement possibilities. Jacob's internationally exhibited work has been featured at Documenta 12, Kunsthalle Lingen, Guggenheim Museum, and Taipei Biennial. He serves on the Education Committee at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
