Luis Fernandez is an Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay holding the Robert and Joan Bauer Endowed professorship in Strings. A Venezuelan-born violinist, teacher, chamber musician, concertmaster, and conductor, he maintains an active performance and international teaching career.
He earned a Master of Music from the University of Florida and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Miami, where he served as first violin of the Nuevo Mundo quartet-in-residence.
His research and performance interests focus on violin performance techniques, chamber music interpretation, orchestral leadership, conducting methodologies, and El Sistema-based music education. He specializes in implementing Venezuelan music pedagogy globally.

- Selection for Aspen Music Festival’s Center for Advanced Quartet Studies
- Securing major grants for South Beach Chamber Ensemble from Miami Beach Cultural Affairs, Florida Arts Council, and NEA
As an educator, he directs programs at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, implements El Sistema internationally, and teaches violin pedagogy. He currently serves as concertmaster of the Weidner Philharmonic Orchestra while performing with Fox Valley, Manitowoc, and Oshkosh symphonies.
