Luigi Lucaccini

Luigi (Lou) Lucaccini is an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco, holding roles in both the School of Management (Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Strategy and International Business Department) and the College of Arts and Sciences (Engineering Department). He is a part-time faculty member with a PhD in Engineering Psychology from UCLA (1968) and an MBA from USF (1980). His career spans interdisciplinary collaboration, public health management, and academic innovation, including contributions to USF’s engineering curriculum development.

Education highlights include his PhD in Engineering Psychology and MBA from USF, alongside extensive professional experience in the US Public Health Service, where he managed public health programs and disaster response. He has also worked as a research psychologist, systems analyst, and quality control chemist.

Research interests focus on entrepreneurship, education technology, and adaptive training systems, alongside his eclectic work across diverse fields. His teaching includes first-year seminars and USF 101 programs, emphasizing interdisciplinary teamwork and boundary-crossing collaboration.

Lou has received multiple awards, including the USF Innovations in Instruction Award (2021) and Distinguished Adjunct Teaching Award (2015). His public health contributions earned citations for disaster responses to Hurricane Iniki and the Northridge Earthquake, along with the USPHS Superior Service Award (1984).

He has co-taught courses and led teams in adaptive training systems and public health initiatives. His 100+ publications/presentations reflect his broad expertise in engineering psychology, education, and interdisciplinary problem-solving.
