Lucía Aranda is a Professor in the Department of Languages & Literatures of Europe & the Americas at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She serves as the department's Chair since 2019 and previously directed the Center for Interpretation and Translation Studies (CITS). Her research focuses on Translation Studies, U.S. Latino Literature, and Code-switching.
Her recent work explores translation challenges in digital media, particularly the treatment of embedded social media quotes in online news. She has organized the first Audiovisual Summer Institute at UHM (June 2024), covering dubbing, subtitling, and audio description.
