Dr Lucy Webb is a Reader at Manchester Metropolitan University with expertise in substance use, mental health, global mental health, and recovery. She holds qualifications including BSc (Hons) in Psychology, MSc in Health Psychology, and a PhD. Her academic service includes roles on the Nursing and Midwifery Council and British Psychological Society. She reviews for journals like the Journal of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing and has conducted consultancy work in Uganda, including curriculum development at Butabika School of Psychiatric Nursing.
Research interests include co-production methodologies, psychosocial health, and end-of-life care for substance users. She supervises PhD and Professional Doctorate students across disciplines. Notable awards include the 2014 MMU Best Research Award and the 2004 Best Pharmacology Paper. Current projects involve NIHR end-of-life care initiatives and global mental health collaborations in Uganda.
Teaching spans pre-registration nursing, speech therapy, and health programs. She chairs PhD vivas and examines theses. Projects include evaluations of Manchester’s Alcohol Care Pathways and palliative care innovations for substance users.
