Dr Lucy Johnson is a Research Fellow in Health Equity at Queen Mary University of London’s Wolfson Institute of Population Health. She works within the Clinical Effectiveness Group (CEG) on a 5-year NIHR-funded project examining quality improvement frameworks and their impact on health equity in the UK. Her interdisciplinary research applies social science principles, medical anthropology, and realist methodologies to address systemic health inequalities.

Research Interests: Dr Johnson focuses on ethnographic methods, participatory approaches, and realist synthesis to understand how geographical and socioeconomic factors contribute to health inequities. She explores post-pandemic research ethics, the role of qualitative methods in policy-making, and the intersection of disability and healthcare access. Her doctoral work examined chronic pain experiences among women in North East England through an anthropological lens.
