Lucrezia Rizzelli is a Researcher at the Centre for Criminology, University of Oxford, affiliated with the Death Penalty Research Unit (DPRU) and Lincoln College. She holds a DPhil in Criminology and previously earned a BA in Psychological Sciences from the University of Florence and an MA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
Her research focuses on criminal decision-making, theories of punishment, and criminal justice reform. Key projects include analyzing drug offenders in Indonesia and studying linguistic features of false confessions in collaboration with Professor Saul Kassin's laboratory. Her work has been supported by the ESRC DTP and Lincoln College's Kingsgate Scholarship.
Research interests span forensic psychology, penal policy, and wrongful conviction prevention. Recent publications examine linguistic patterns in confessions and the psychological mechanisms behind false confessions.
