Lucile Turc

Lucile Turc is a University Researcher and Docent in the Department of Physics at the University of Helsinki, specializing in Space Physics and Magnetospheric Dynamics. She leads the Space Physics Research Group and supervises the Doctoral Programme in Particle Physics and Universe Sciences. Her research focuses on magnetospheric processes, solar wind interactions, and numerical simulations, particularly using hybrid-Vlasov methods to model phenomena like magnetic reconnection, current sheet instabilities, and ULF wave propagation.

Key research interests include the magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling, foreshock wave transmission, and space weather effects driven by solar activity. Turc has managed multiple projects, including the EU-funded WAVESTORMS CoG and the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Space Research. She has been recognized with the Hannu Koskinen oral presentation award (2019).

Her work bridges computational models with observational data, contributing to understanding solar wind-magnetosphere interactions, radiation belt dynamics, and auroral processes.
