Lucia Tomassini

Dr. Lucia Tomassini is a Senior Lecturer at the Hotel Management School Leeuwarden, part of NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Her academic background includes a PhD in Events, Tourism, and Hospitality from Leeds Beckett University (UK), supervised by Prof. Rhodri Thomas and Prof. Xavier Font. Her research focuses on cutting-edge topics within a more-than-human societal framework, including circular economy applications in tourism spaces, posthuman analyses of animal mobility, and the role of alternative accommodations in fostering social inclusivity.

She has secured funding through national and EU grants and publishes in journals such as the Journal of Sustainable Tourism and Tourism Geographies. She co-founded and co-coordinates two ATLAS Special Interest Groups: one on Circular Economy in Tourism and Hospitality, and another on Animals in Tourism, Hospitality, and Leisure.

Her work bridges mobility trends, spatial theories, and cultural geographies, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to sustainability and inclusivity in hospitality and tourism sectors.
