About
Lucia Melloni is a Professor and Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics, investigating neural mechanisms of perception and cognition. Her work examines domain-general cortical computations and predictive processing in sensory systems.
With a PhD in Psychology, Melloni directs research on how the brain anticipates sensory input, conscious awareness mechanisms, and neural plasticity for cognitive restoration. She holds a joint appointment as Research Professor in Neurology at NYU School of Medicine.
Current projects explore the neural basis of perceptual predictions, language comprehension pathways, and limits of brain plasticity in recovering cognitive functions following neurological impairment.
