Lucia Avallone

Lucia Avallone is an Associate Professor at the University of Bergamo, teaching Arabic language and literature. She holds a PhD in 'Near Eastern and Maghreb Studies. Cultural Specificities and Intercultural Relations' from the University of Naples 'L'Orientale' (2011) and graduated from the University of Turin (1989).

Her research focuses on modern and contemporary Arabic language and literature, especially linguistic variation, code switching between standard and vernacular Arabic, and Arabic-European language contact. She analyzes political discourse and develops methodologies for Arabic language teaching, with particular attention to dialect-standard dynamics in literary and pedagogical contexts.
