Lucette A Cysique

Lucette A Cysique is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), within the Faculty of Medicine & Health. She specializes in neurocognitive and brain changes associated with chronic infections like HIV and COVID-19, combining neuropsychological assessments with advanced neuroimaging techniques. Her research focuses on neurocognitive deterioration, repair mechanisms, and cross-cultural neuropsychology. Currently leading international NeuroHIV studies and chairing the NeuroCOVID Special Interest Group under the International Neuropsychological Society (INS), she bridges clinical and epidemiological research.

Education: BA (Psychology), MA (Neurosciences), MA (Neuropsychology), PhD (Neuropsychology) from institutions in France, UK, and Australia. Postdoctoral training in the US and Australia. Active in supervising higher degree research students (PhD and Masters) on topics including longitudinal cognitive change, multimodal MRI in HIV, and cross-cultural test development.

Research areas include HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders, neuroimaging applications, aging with HIV, cardiovascular-neurological interactions, and PASC (Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2). Her work emphasizes global health equity, especially in low-resource settings, and has led to over 150 peer-reviewed publications across journals like Neurology and AIDS. She collaborates internationally, with studies spanning sub-Saharan Africa, Malaysia, and Indigenous communities in Australia.
