About
Lucas Bao is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Boston College, within the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on theoretical and computational chemistry, addressing complex chemical kinetics and dynamics across gas-phase, interfacial, and condensed-phase systems. Key areas include clean-energy catalysis (electrocatalysis, photocatalysis), atmospheric chemistry, and materials design, leveraging quantum mechanics, statistical thermodynamics, and solid-state physics. He has received notable awards, including the ACS Petroleum Research Fund Doctoral New Investigator Award (2022) and ACS PHYS-Theory Graduate Award (2018). His group develops novel computational tools and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to advance sustainable energy solutions and environmental science. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and is affiliated with the Schiller Institute for Integrated Science and Society.
