Luca Ruggio serves as Associate Professor at the University of Salento in the Department of Humanistic Studies, specializing in Medieval and Humanistic Latin Literature (SSD FLMR-01/A). His academic work focuses on medieval and humanist Latin literature with particular emphasis on theater, epistolography, geography, and philology.
His research interests encompass manuscript tradition analysis, critical editions, and codicology, with significant contributions to the study of fifteenth-century comedies' language and lexicon. He has published historical-biographical entries on prominent humanists including Pier Paolo Vergerio, Angelo Poliziano, Gian Mario Filelfo, Roberto de' Rossi, Domenico Crispo, and Antonio Galateo.
Ruggio has held leadership roles in multiple research projects, including serving as Scientific Director of the FutureInResearch Project (2015-2018) and currently collaborating on the PRIN 2017 and PRIN 2022 PNRR projects. Since July 2022, he has been Scientific Advisor for the BIB.LA.MA digital archive project.
He is actively involved in academic service as co-editor of the A-rated journal 'Archivum mentis. Studies in philology and humanistic literature' and serves on several editorial and scientific committees. Ruggio is a member of multiple scholarly organizations including CoMUL, SISMEL, and CESURA.
As an educator, he teaches courses in Medieval and Humanistic Philology and Literature, with regular office hours by appointment. He has served as academic tutor for numerous undergraduate students at the University of Salento.
