Luca Lai

Luca Lai is an Assistant Professor specializing in archaeology with a focus on stable isotope applications in Western Mediterranean prehistory, particularly Sardinia. His research examines long-term human-environment dynamics through paleodietary and paleoclimatic reconstructions from the 5th to 1st millennium BC.

Lai investigates social differentiation in resource access across Sardinian prehistoric communities, employing bioarchaeological methods to analyze dietary patterns in relation to status and gender. Additional interests include Sardinian linguistics, toponomastics, and comparative studies of complex societies. He teaches courses in cultural anthropology, archaeological methods, human osteology, and Mediterranean archaeology.
