Luca Enriques is a Professor of Business Law at Bocconi University and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of European and Comparative Law (IECL) at the University of Oxford. He holds additional visiting appointments at institutions such as Harvard Law School and Columbia Law School. He previously served as a Professor of Corporate Law at the University of Oxford (2014–2025) and held roles at the Italian Securities and Exchange Commission (Consob) and as an advisor to the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Enriques earned a law degree from the University of Bologna, an LLM from Harvard Law School, and a Doctorate in Business Law from Bocconi University. His research focuses on corporate governance, financial regulation, and European business law. He is a Research Fellow of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) and co-chairs its FinTech Task Force.
His publications span corporate law harmonization, pandemic-era regulatory responses, and the intersection of technology with corporate frameworks. Recent work includes analyses of hostile bids in Europe, climate disclosures, and dual-class share structures. His 2024 paper on European hostile bids critiques regulatory fragmentation, while his 2023 study on carbon markets addresses market failures in sustainability initiatives.
Enriques has been recognized with the 2024 Berkeley Center for Law and Business Best Paper Award. His career includes advising multinational firms and governments, alongside roles on academic editorial boards such as the Oxford Business Law Blog. He has contributed to policy debates on fintech partnerships, systemic risk management, and crisis-era corporate law reforms.
