Luca Chiaraviglio is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering, University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy. His research focuses on evaluating electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure from 5G/6G networks, network optimization, and disaster communication systems. He holds a M.Sc. in Computer Engineering and a Ph.D. in Telecommunication and Electronics Engineering from Polytechnic of Turin.
He has authored over 150 publications in top journals/conferences and served as Chief Editor for Frontiers in Communications and Networks. His work includes leading European projects like H2020 LOCUS and coordinating the bilateral project PLAN-EMF. He has received multiple awards, including Best Paper Awards at IEEE VTC and ICIN conferences, and is recognized as a top 1% cited researcher in ICT.
Chiaraviglio’s research spans 5G/6G network planning, health risk assessment, energy-efficient network design, and UAV-assisted disaster communication. He has collaborated with institutions worldwide, including Boston University and INRIA Sophia Antipolis. His current interests include 6G health impact analysis, EMF measurement frameworks, and sustainable rural connectivity solutions.
He is an IEEE Senior Member and founding member of the IEEE Green Communications Subcommittee. His H-Index is 36 (Google Scholar), reflecting significant contributions to telecommunications engineering and network sustainability.
