Luísa Mendes serves as a Non-PhD Researcher at the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering (DCEA) within the Faculty of Science and Technology at NOVA University Lisbon, affiliated with the CENSE – Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research. Since 2009, she has been integral to the PrevQualar project, specializing in air quality forecasting and legislative compliance monitoring.
Her academic foundation includes a Degree and Post-Graduation in Geophysical Sciences – Meteorology/Oceanography from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, establishing her expertise in atmospheric systems.
Research priorities encompass European/national air quality assessment frameworks, statistical modeling for pollution forecasting, and analysis of natural pollutant sources—particularly North African desert dust intrusion events. She maintains active engagement with advancements in climatology and atmospheric modeling methodologies, driving predictive accuracy in environmental science applications.
