Lowell Anthony

Dr. Lowell Anthony is a Professor of Internal Medicine and Chief of the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He serves as the Protocol Review and Monitoring System Co-Chair at the Markey Cancer Center and holds the Translational Oncology Research Program Distinguished Professorship in Neuroendocrine Tumor Research. His leadership extends across multiple research initiatives focused on advancing cancer treatment.

His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science from King College (1974), Doctor of Medicine from Vanderbilt University (1979), and Residency at Vanderbilt University (1982). These foundational experiences established his expertise in medical oncology and cancer research.

Dr. Anthony's research focuses on neuroendocrine cancers and gastrointestinal malignancies, with particular expertise in carcinoid syndrome, somatostatin analogues, and novel therapeutic approaches for neuroendocrine tumors. His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on targeted alpha therapies, particularly [212Pb]VMT-α-NET and RYZ101 (Actinium-225 DOTATATE), as well as combination approaches involving PRRT with radiosensitizers like Triapine.
