Louise Johns is a Senior Tutor at the University of Oxford and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry. She also serves as a Visiting Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London. With advanced qualifications including a MA, DPhil, DClinPsy, and PGCAP, she is a chartered psychologist and BABCP-accredited cognitive behavior therapist.
Her research focuses on:
- Understanding the development of psychotic symptoms in young people
- Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for psychosis, including novel approaches for negative symptoms
- Early intervention and prevention of severe mental illness
- Supporting children of parents with mental illness
Louise has been instrumental in NHS service development, notably as a founding member of the OASIS service for at-risk mental states and project lead for the SLaM Psychosis IAPT-SMI Demonstration Site. Her work bridges clinical practice and research, emphasizing accessible mental health care and evidence-based therapy integration.
