Louise Goupil

Louise Goupil is a CNRS Researcher at Grenoble Alpes University, affiliated with the Laboratory of Psychology and Neurocognition (LPNC) and the Babylab research platform. Her work investigates how children actively shape their social learning through metacognitive and social mechanisms, with focus on developmental processes in educational and communicative contexts.

Her research spans three interconnected domains:

• Developmental Psychology: Examining how young children leverage self-awareness to direct their learning trajectories and reduce educational inequalities
• Cognitive-Communication Interfaces: Analyzing bidirectional relationships between conscious perception, metacognition, and vocal/musical/linguistic communication systems
• Applied Educational Research: Translating theoretical insights into classroom interventions through structured questioning frameworks

Current flagship projects include:

• QUEST: Investigating questioning techniques as tools to mitigate learning disparities in classroom settings
• RESSAC: Studying infant voice recognition mechanisms and their role in vocal communication development
• MYTHS: Critically evaluating prevalent misconceptions about child psychology against empirical evidence

Prior to her current position, Dr. Goupil conducted research at the École Normale Supérieure and IRCAM in Paris, and the University of East London and Cambridge University in the UK. She maintains active scholarly presence through Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and Open Science Framework, while contributing to Babylab's mission of advancing infant and child development research through innovative methodologies.
