Louise Barrett is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Education and Social Sciences, University of Glasgow. She specializes in secondary English education, creative pedagogies, and inclusive practices. Her research explores innovative teaching methods such as walking-based learning, visual conceptualization, and extending learning sites beyond traditional classrooms.
She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education at the University of Glasgow, focusing on secondary English teachers' responsibilities for student health and wellbeing through Martha Nussbaum's Capabilities Approach. She contributes to the Scottish Universities Inclusion Group, mapping inclusive pedagogy in initial teacher education.
Her research outputs span 2011–2016, addressing topics like collaborative learning in creative writing, national frameworks for inclusion, and educational change in Scottish Highland schools. Notable works include studies on teacher learning communities and the role of walking in creative writing pedagogy.
Louise supervises BA Education Honours dissertations and teaches literacy across learning and inclusive education. She aims to build research capacity through her doctoral studies and continues exploring Scottish educational policy contexts and teacher education reforms.
