Louis Satyanarayan

Louis Satyanarayan is an Adjunct Professor at Georgia Tech Europe (a site of Georgia Institute of Technology) since 2023. Previously, he served as a Senior Project Manager at ArcelorMittal Global R&D in France, managing international R&D projects. He also evaluated proposals and monitored grant agreements for the European Commission. His academic journey includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Georgia Tech-CNRS International Research Laboratory (IRL 2958) in 2008. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (2007), an M.E. from the University of Madras (2003), and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering (2001).

His research focuses on Mechanics of Materials, Heat Transfer, Combustion, and Energy Systems, with expertise in ultrasonic techniques for material characterization and non-destructive evaluation. Recent work emphasizes laser ultrasonics for steel microstructure monitoring during high-temperature processes like hot rolling. His publications also explore polymer-based ultrasonic transducers and computational modeling of defects in complex geometries.

Dr. Satyanarayan has received awards such as the CNRS Postdoctoral Fellowship (2008), Best Presentation at the International Symposium on Stainless Steels (2007), and multiple technical paper awards in India. His projects include EC-funded initiatives and collaborative research with institutions like CNRS. He has contributed to sensor development, metallurgical modeling, and industrial applications of ultrasonic technologies.

His professional contributions span academia and industry, with a focus on bridging R&D innovations to practical manufacturing challenges. He has led teams in multinational R&D projects and advises on grant management and proposal evaluations at the European Commission level.
