Louis Bont

Louis Bont is a Professor in Pediatrics at University Medical Center Utrecht, The Netherlands, and an Adjunct Professor at Yale School of Public Health. He is a Pediatrician Infectiologist-Immunologist, Department Head at Wilhelmina Children's Hospital, and founding chairman of ReSViNET, an international RSV research consortium. His work focuses on RSV pathogenesis, burden of disease, molecular epidemiology, and vaccine development.

Dr. Bont leads key global initiatives such as the INFORM study (>2000 children) and the RSV GOLD mortality registry funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He collaborates with the World Health Organization on RSV surveillance and vaccine development, and founded the TULIPS career training network for clinician scientists in Child Health.

His research integrates clinical and translational approaches to identify RSV intervention targets, with over 300 peer-reviewed publications. He advocates for equitable RSV vaccination access, co-authoring a Lancet Call to Action urging global efforts for low- and middle-income countries. Initiatives like the RSV Dashboard and chatbot further support real-time data sharing and public health education.
