Lou Nel is an Associate Professor at the School of Computer Science, Carleton University. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo (1988), an M.Math, and a B.Eng. from Carleton University. His research focuses on computer applications to music, object-oriented programming, and software engineering. He currently teaches the Winter 2025 course '2406 A&B Fundamentals of Web Applications' as an online blended course. Notable tools he developed include the 'Database Normalizer' web application for functional dependencies and entity-relationship modeling.
