Lorenzo Codogno is Visiting Professor in Practice at the London School of Economics' European Institute, Senior Fellow at LUISS School of European Political Economy in Rome, and Visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Bruges. He concurrently serves as founder/chief economist of LC Macro Advisors Ltd, his consulting firm.
Previously, he was Director General at the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (2006-2015), heading Italy's delegation to the EU Economic Policy Committee and chairing it from 2010-2011. Before government service, he held senior economist roles at Bank of America and Unicredit.
Research Focus: His expertise spans European economic governance, fiscal/monetary policy design, debt sustainability mechanisms, EU institutional reforms, and comparative analysis of Eurozone economies with emphasis on Italian macroeconomic challenges. He investigates productivity growth barriers, competitiveness frameworks, and globalization impacts on European financial systems.
Education: Holds a Master's degree from Syracuse University following undergraduate studies at the University of Padua.
Leadership: Served on corporate boards (ENEL 2006-2014, MTS 1999-2003) and EU technical committees including the Lisbon Methodology Working Group and OECD Working Party 1.
