Lorena Perrone is an Associate Professor at Link Campus University in Rome. She holds a Bachelor's in Biological Sciences from the University of Trieste and a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Pathology from the University of Naples Federico II. She has held academic roles at the University of Naples Federico II, University of Udine, UMUC Europe (Heidelberg), and KORE University of Enna, where she taught clinical biochemistry and served on exam boards. Her research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's and Huntington's), early biomarker discovery, and diagnostic technologies using microfluidics for lung diseases, cancers, and neurodegenerative conditions.
She has received significant funding as Principal Investigator from the European Commission, ANR, and French regional agencies. Awards include European Commission grants and a CEA award for medical technology innovation. She founded and led the start-up NanoImmuno sas, advising Caminnov sas, and currently chairs editorial boards for Frontiers in Molecular Neuroscience. She contributed to OECD initiatives on food/nutrition and health, and evaluated the Free University of Brussels. Her work bridges academic research, industry innovation, and policy.
