Loren Glass

Loren Glass is the M.F. Carpenter Professor and Department Chair in the Department of English at the University of Iowa. His research focuses on 20th- and 21st-century U.S. literature, literary modernism, book history, and popular music studies. He holds a joint appointment with the Center for the Book. His major works include Authors Inc., Rebel Publisher, and After the Program Era. He is currently writing University of Literature, an institutional history of creative writing at Iowa.

Education: PhD, Duke University (1998); MA, University of California, Davis (1990).

His DEI initiatives include establishing workshops on white identity and dismantling white supremacy culture, and overseeing the IDEAS committee. He is BUILD-certified and contributed to the Racial Justice Action Plan.
