Loren Gaudet is an Assistant Teaching Professor and ATWP 135 course coordinator in the Academic and Technical Writing Program at the University of Victoria. Currently on leave, they teach courses including ATWP 305: The Rhetoric of Health and Medicine. Holding a BA from University of Victoria, MA from York University, and PhD from University of British Columbia, Gaudet's research focuses on health humanities, medical rhetoric, and fostering student belonging in academia.
Research interests include the rhetoric of science/medicine, language's role in health narratives, and pedagogical strategies for inclusive classrooms. Their work appears in Health, BMJ Medical Humanities, and Discourse and Writing/Rédactologie. Current projects include SSHRC-funded Writing and Power: Positions and Policies for Social Change and UVic Libraries belonging initiatives.
