Lorelei Dowling is a distinguished contrabassoonist and lecturer affiliated with the Faculty of Music at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna since 2020. She has performed globally with ensembles like Klangforum Wien (since 1994) and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and is a member of the avant-garde bassoon quartet "The Lindsay Copper Quartet."

Her research focuses on contemporary bassoon performance, new music composition, and improvisational techniques. As a pioneer, she premiered Luciano Berio's Sequenza XII in Spain, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Russia, and performed André Jolivet's Bassoon Concerto in Australia. She released her solo bassoon CD "I was like WOW" (2017) and is pursuing a doctorate in contrabassoon at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (since 2018).
She actively promotes contemporary bassoon repertoire through her work with ensembles like Ensemble Modern and Musikfabrik.
