Lopa Mishra, MD, is an Adjunct Professor and Co-Director of the Institute of Bioelectronic Medicine at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, affiliated with the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She holds the Susan and Herman Merinoff Distinguished Chair in Translational Medicine and co-leads the institute with Dr. Yousef Al-Abed. Her career includes prior leadership roles as Chair of Gastroenterology at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Director of the Center for Translational Medicine at George Washington University.
Her research focuses on the continuum of science-driven clinical care, particularly in gastrointestinal cancers, liver disease, metabolism, obesity, addiction, inflammatory bowel disease, and bioelectronic medicine. Her work emphasizes the role of TGF-β signaling in cancer and stem cell disorders, aiming to develop novel therapies and improve clinical outcomes.
The recent publications highlight a strong focus on TGF-β pathway dysregulation in cancer, epigenetic mechanisms in Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, microbiome interactions in colorectal cancer, and pan-cancer genomic analyses. Her research integrates molecular biology, genetics, and translational approaches to understand disease mechanisms and identify therapeutic targets.
