About
Longhese Maria Pia is a Full Professor of Genetics at the University of Milano-Bicocca's Department of Biotechnology and Biosciences. She leads an active research laboratory (#LongheseLab_BtBs) investigating DNA damage response mechanisms, with particular focus on DNA double-strand break repair pathways and telomere maintenance.
Her current research examines:
- Functions and regulation of DNA damage sensor proteins
- Chromatin dynamics at DNA break sites
- Therapeutic targeting of DNA repair pathways
- Telomere stability mechanisms
Professor Longhese maintains active research funding, including a multi-year project (2022-2024) funded by the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC) focusing on DNA break sensor proteins, and a PRIN 2022 project on chromatin transitions at DNA damage sites funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research.
