Loliya’s research lies at the intersection of behavioural science, African studies, and organisational behaviour. Her work critically examines identity, cultural differences, work-life balance, diversity, inclusion, migration, and human resource development, with a strong focus on women of African origin across global contexts. She explores how socio-economic and environmental factors shape individual and organisational identities, particularly in the Global South.
Her recent publications reflect a consistent thematic focus on gender, identity, and socio-economic resilience, especially among African women entrepreneurs and migrants. These works span interdisciplinary journals and book chapters, demonstrating a trend toward post-colonial, feminist, and capability-based analyses of work and development. Her research integrates qualitative methodologies and critical theory to address real-world challenges in equity and sustainability.
She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has received research grants, including:
- Women’s networks for career advancement of Women of African Origin in the UK (University Forum of Human Resource Development, £1000, 2019)
- Understanding work-life patterns of immigrants in Scotland (University of Aberdeen Business School, £4000, 2023)
Loliya actively supervises PhD and DBA students, with completed projects on ethnic minority employment and transformational leadership in petrochemical firms. She welcomes new PhD candidates in Business Management, particularly those exploring behavioural science, identity, and African studies.
