Lloyd Pratt

Professor Lloyd Pratt holds the Drue Heinz Professorship in American Literature at the University of Oxford's Faculty of English Language & Literature. He is affiliated with St John's College and specializes in 18th-century to contemporary American literature, with particular focus on African American literature, Southern literatures, and the history of the book. His research bridges literary criticism, cultural studies, and gender/sexuality studies.

Publications reflect sustained engagement with marginalized voices in American literary history. Recent work interrogates regional identity, archival silences, and the intersection of literary form with sociopolitical contexts. He supervises Masters and DPhil students in these areas.
