Liz DeMattia is a Researcher and Director of the Community Science Initiative at Duke University's Marine Lab. Her work focuses on leveraging citizen science data to understand plastic pollution in stormwater systems, as demonstrated through the AdoptADrain project launched in 2021/2022. Collaborating with Dr. Rachel Noble from UNC-IMS, she leads interdisciplinary research teams in data collation, analysis, and environmental interpretation.
