Liz Bishop

Liz Bishop is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Forensic Medicine, Monash University, and a Research Governance Officer in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. She teaches law, ethics, and public health to undergraduate and postgraduate students, including MBBS and Masters of International Health programs. Her work bridges legal systems, human rights, and healthcare, with a focus on gender equality and criminal justice reform.

Her research interests include the impact of legal frameworks on women's rights, restorative justice, and health legal partnerships. She leads projects on victim/survivor rights, hospital-based legal clinics, and legislative processes affecting marginalized groups. Liz has held roles as a Judicial Associate, Senior Adviser to the Victorian Attorney-General, and Board Member of Australia Women Lawyers.

Her projects emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration, such as designing training programs for health legal partnerships and advancing restorative justice models for sexual assault cases. She actively participates in conferences on family law, bioethics, and non-adversarial justice systems.

Liz’s professional affiliations include the Haemophilia Auxiliary of the Royal Children's Hospital and the Victorian Women Lawyers. She contributes to public discussions on legal ethics, diversity in the profession, and systemic reforms to enhance equity.
