Liv Sunnercrantz

Liv Sunnercrantz is an Associate Professor in Political Science at the Institute of Media and Communication Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Stavanger. Her research combines post-foundationalist discourse theory with empirical analysis of political debates, focusing on hegemony, intellectuals, and meaning-making practices.

Key research areas include:

• Neoliberal hegemony in Swedish privatization debates (1988-1993)
• Populism and anti-gender movements in Nordic contexts
• Expert roles in populist politics during crises (Covid-19, Ukraine war)
• Rhetorical-performative methodology for societal transitions

Recent publications examine climate crisis discourse, Nordic populism, and intergenerational knowledge transfer in academia. She co-founded the research group on Populism, Anti-Gender and Democracy and actively contributes to public debates on neoliberalism and populism.
