Liudmila Novikova is a Research Fellow at Heidelberg University's Karl Jaspers Centre. Her research focuses on twentieth-century Russian political and social history, particularly the Russian Revolution, Civil War, and Soviet participation in World War II. She previously served as Deputy Director of the International Center for the History and Sociology of World War II at HSE University in Moscow, where she was an Associate Professor in History.
Her scholarly interests include anti-Bolshevik resistance movements, Soviet home front dynamics during WWII, and inter-allied cooperation. Novikova has authored significant works including An Anti-Bolshevik Alternative: The White Movement and the Civil War in the Russian North (2018) and edited multiple volumes on Russian revolutionary history.
