Lisa Winnall is an Associate Professor in Food Safety and Head of the Food Safety Group at the University of Birmingham. With over 20 years of experience, she specializes in allergen management, food fraud, and food policy. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Health from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff (1997), an MSc in Food Safety, Hygiene & Management from the University of Birmingham (2004), and a PGCert in Academic Practice from Coventry University (2017). She is a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner (2021) and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2024).
Research focuses on hygiene interventions, food chain security, and legislative frameworks. She leads postgraduate programs like the MSc in Food Safety Hygiene and Management, overseeing modules and CPD training. Her work bridges academia and industry, collaborating with regulatory bodies such as the FSA.
