Lisa Sanderink is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Governance and Technology for Sustainability (CSTM) within the Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences (BMS) at the University of Twente. She leads the Breaking Silos project examining the EU Cities Mission as a governance innovation for accelerating climate-neutrality in Amsterdam and Stockholm through collaboration with the Swedish Institute of International Affairs and Lund University.
Her educational background includes:
- PhD in Governance Structure of the Climate-Energy Nexus from VU University Amsterdam
- MSc in Environment and Resource Management from VU University Amsterdam
- BA in European Studies with premaster in International and European Law from University of Amsterdam
Lisa's research centers on climate and energy governance, analyzing complexities of governance structures and their effectiveness. Her work spans urban climate policy, energy transition, and the climate-energy nexus, with publications in Energy Policy, Energy Research & Social Science, and Global Environmental Politics, plus contributions to Cambridge University Press and Routledge volumes.
Active in the Earth System Governance network and European Consortium for Political Research, she serves on the Kennisloket for Nieuwe Energie Overijssel, connecting municipalities and organizations with knowledge resources through Saxion and Windesheim universities. She also contributes to the BMS Ethics Committee and Master Environmental and Energy Management Program Committee.
