About
Dr. Lisa Rosenberg is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Victoria's Department of Chemistry, within the Faculty of Science. She holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia (UBC). Her research focuses on organometallic chemistry and transition metal catalysis, particularly in designing homogeneous catalysts for silicon and phosphorus chemistry, mechanistic studies of catalytic processes, and inorganic polymer synthesis. Her work emphasizes P-H and Si-H activation, hydrophosphination, and polysilane functionalization.
Education: PhD (Chemistry), University of British Columbia (UBC). Notable research areas include the development of ruthenium- and cobalt-based catalysts for phosphine synthesis, borane-catalyzed modifications of silanes, and the exploration of polysilyne materials via thermolytic routes. Her group has pioneered methods for creating functionalized oligo- and polysilanes.
Scientific Awards: 2021 CIC Fellow. Teaching: Dr. Rosenberg instructs courses in inorganic chemistry, organometallics, catalysis, and NMR spectroscopy at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She also contributes to graduate discussion courses on advanced research techniques.
Research Lab/Team: The Rosenberg Group at UVic explores organophosphorus and organosilicon chemistry, with a focus on catalytic mechanisms and material synthesis. Their projects include the design of novel transition metal catalysts and the development of sustainable synthetic pathways.
